I am Daevius and this is my portfolio site. Here is where I will show my past and current projects, including programming, Call of Duty maps and mods, artwork and other things that are of my personal interest.
This time I will try and keep my website updated, which I didn't with my previous site.

I will keep the CoD articles and the Randomizer up at the same location it was.

I got myself to work ^^

Yes :)

I launched an entire new site in about 1 and a half hours due to Gem3's excellent support :), the new site is: www.daevsgui.com

The site is for my new project, called DaevsGUI, which is a C++ library to manage GUI's.

I current am very busy with some paid and non-paid projects, and Call of Duty 5 is coming soon, which will be fun :D
Sad news

Study has started and I'm incredibly busy since I also have windsurfing, pipeband drumming, rock climbing and work...so I haven't got much time to spend at a computer...once I have the time, I usually want to relax and play some games, so coding is zero priority now :'(. At least this way I appreciate vacation again :P.

I will somewhere in the future expand the CoD4 wiki pages, and do some other site stuff...but not for the coming weeks...month? :(
Running low
August 25th '08
Okay, lets be honest...I haven't done much to anything, everything bores me somehow at the moment, and I got myself involved into a few games with some friends...

I've been playing around though with a tool that will place grass automatically in a CoD4 map. This would allow mappers to work much and much quicker, since placing grass can take quite some time (for me, at least). The idea is that you select a texture to apply it to, the model and some settings to randomly place the grass model (scale, rotation, etc.).

In the meanwhile...I SHOULD be working on some projects...really, and I will but I'm out of motivation right now ^^,
Maps!

Mapping, I'm mapping like a wild pig at the moment. Released mp_aosta_valley version 1 about 2 weeks ago (and 1.1 shortly after, to clean up the .iwd file), updated it to version 2 this week, working on a last version, version 3. Version 3 will have helicopter support (yes yes, forgot it for version 2, memory capacity lowers with all the alcohol lawl) and some other nifty features and lame bug fixes.

For more information on version 2: [Release] mp_aosta_valley_v2 : Forum : Daevius.com

In the mean time I build another Italy (farm) village map, with the same buildings (which are prefabs) but with much more space around the buildings. Makes gameplay somewhat easier then those small alleys of Aosta Valley. Since the map involves a lot of terrain (grass, specifically) and since I'm extremely lazy, I'm working on a tool that will automatically place grass models randomly throughout the map (on the grass textured patches, obviously). So, in fact I simply deploy the buildings, make the terrain, run the grass-model-deployer and add gametype specific things and I'd be done, basically.

Also busy working on secret projects ... programming is running kind of low at the moment :'(.

Oh, and I started deciphering the .d3dbsp file format CoD4 uses, with the help of Regolith and O'Neill I managed to retrieve all lumps and display the vertex data ... :-)
Vacation
July 6th '08
Going to Slovenia for 10 days, I'll be back at the 17th of July. Might need to put my gallery script online and host some images ^^

I was hoping I could finish my map for CoD4 just before I'd go on vacation...did not happen though I did work on it for like 24/7 ^^. But since it needs to be tested aswell with a team, I couldn't get it finished so quickly.
I've ordered an ASM book so I can actually understand what is explained with the OS development tutorials ^^, finished my bootloader though...all for after the vacation :P.
Also, I was thinking of putting up a code library on my site with handy little function I wrote / came accross...like quick compression methods or pixel data modify functions (like cutting out a part of an image).
New layout, new future
July 1st '08
Sadly I didn't do much with my site, and thought the range of subjects was way too wide. I've restricted it now to just what I'm interested in, just a portfolio site. It has a lot of common with my previous site, but I think this layout is more appropriate for 'personal things'/portfolio.

I've removed actually everything except CoD4 articles (console commands and the map list) and my Randomizer, since those were visited mostly.

Developments past months:
- Started and paused my MORPG project
- Working on a GUI library
- Finalising my new CoD4 map
- Reading into OS development
Projects!
December 2nd '07
I added two of my latest projects; Exhibitae and Aeperio. Both are in development and need a lot of updates. All of my projects will be open-source and free to use. If you like the software or use it a lot, you can ofcourse donate me ;), for further information; see the sourceforge pages to which I link.

Exhibitae: web-based photo gallery script.
Aeperio: web-based syntax highlighter

Both very flexible and efficient ;)

So, new layout, new content, a fresh start. The site will be under construction for the coming weeks, although some pages are already filled with content. More content to be added soon, eventually ... a forum!?
